Beat Saber

beat saber

One of the quintessential Oculus Quest 2 games, Beat Saber is an immersive and addicting VR rhythm game that has you slashing at colored blocks in time with a melodic beat.

While the game loop is nothing new, the entire visual-auditory experience of you swinging flashy lightsabers and jamming through high-octane electronica on a VR platform makes Beat Saber truly unique.

The game also features a healthy dose of fun challenges to lessen repetition, such as multiple difficulty levels, 16 thumping tracks, and a ton of gameplay modifiers. With a PC and a link cable, you can also download more songs to expand your track list and enjoy a virtually endless selection of tunes to slash through.

The eclectic hype of Beat Saber is no lie; this game is an icon not to miss.

2

Half-Life Alyx

hl alyx

Yes, we’re well aware that Half-Life Alyx isn’t on the Quest 2 store at this time. But it’d be a disservice not to mention this award-winning masterpiece in our roundup of the best Oculus Quest 2 games. Besides, with a PC cable, your VR system, and a powerful gaming PC, you have all you need to play this title on your Meta Quest 2.

A prequel to the fan-favorite Half-Life 2, Half-Life Alyx is a story-driven VR adventure shooter that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. You play as Alyx Vance, a resistance fighter in a desperate struggle against the Combine, an inter-dimensional alien empire that has annexed Earth.

With a superb level design, AAA production values, and a bevy of interesting puzzles to solve, Half-Life Alyx is an unmissable experience for anyone looking to immerse themselves in one of VR’s best.

Cut the Apex Legends and Fortnite clone chatter and say hello to the next generation of battle royale, Population: ONE.

Population: ONE is an absolute blast to play and is one of the top competitive VR shooters out there.

This Oculus-exclusive title drops you into a massive map with up to 18 players (6 squadrons total) where the only goal is to be the last one standing.

The catch? Everyone gets wingsuits and grappling hooks, meaning you can traverse the environment with relative ease and engage in thrilling firefights with plenty of strategic options.

In addition, you can climb, build, and soar in the air to gain a better vantage point in the heat of combat, giving you a tactical edge over your opponents.

If you’re looking for a fun challenge with an original twist, Population: ONE should definitely be on your list.

Echo VR is a free-to-play, team-based VR game that has you working together with a team to compete in intense zero-gravity arenas.

The goal of the game is to throw a disc into your opponent’s goal, and the first team to score 5 points wins the match.

Echo VR is both fast-paced and deceptively strategic. You’ll need to not only master the art of aiming with precision but also learn how to maneuver your character in zero gravity.

The movement system is intuitive and robust too, making for a fluid and enjoyable experience for the Meta Quest 2.

5

Pistol Whip

pistol whip vr

Pistol Whip is a VR action game that takes the best elements of John Wick and Hotline Miami, fuses them together, and then serves it on a platter of heart-pumping awesomeness.

The game puts you in the shoes of someone who must fight through a series of bullet hell stages, all armed with only a trusty pistol. Getting through doesn’t require actual footwork on your end, giving you full freedom to duck, dodge, and weave your way through a barrage of bullets. All while shooting enemies that dare to come close.

With increasingly difficult phases as you progress and an awesome soundtrack to boot, Pistol Whip will make you feel like an up-and-coming action star in a dazzling, neon world.

6

Microsoft Flight Simulator

Have you ever wanted to fly a plane? With Microsoft Flight Simulator, you can experience what it’s like to soar through the skies in some of the world’s most iconic airliner jets.

Microsoft Flight Simulator and virtual reality go together like peanut butter and jelly, as the game’s hyper-realism is only compounded with the added sense of immersion that VR provides. Aside from the detailed world airports that speckle the world map, the in-flight cockpit experience is second to none. Every button and control is where you would expect it to be, and thanks to Oculus Quest 2’s controllers, you can interact with the cockpit just as you would in a real plane.

A port of the classic 2005 survival horror game, Resident Evil 4 VR is a must-have for both fans of the franchise and avid horror fans.

This Oculus 2 VR exclusive puts you in the shoes of Leon S. Kennedy as he’s sent on a mission to rescue the president’s daughter from a mysterious cult.

The game offers a generous helping of jump scares, memorable scenes, and a blowout of intense situations, all of which are amplified by the VR experience.

With the Resident Evil franchise’s massive acclaim, there’s no better time to revisit one of the series’ most memorable entries in the Oculus Quest 2 than now.

8

The Thrill of the Fight

boxing vr

Virtual reality brings a whole new level of immersion to boxing games, and The Thrill of the Fight fits the bill to a T.

This game has you duking it out against a series of opponents in increasingly difficult matches. In the ring, players will have to move their entire body to duck, dodge, and throw punches at their foe to claim the elusive title, The King of the Ring.

What makes this title extraordinary is the fact that real-life boxers use this VR boxing game to train for their real-world matches. If you want a tough workout that’ll have you feeling like a badass, give The Thrill of the Fight a go.

9

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted

horror vr game

Miss the frightening madness of the good ‘ol 2010s that is killer animatronics? Well, you’re in for a treat.

Five Night at Freddy’s: Help Wanted brings the terrifying scares of the mainline FNAF games, as well as new modes, and puts them into a horror-filled VR setting.

More specifically, the game features remakes of the first three games as well as returning characters, supersized. The new minigames are a ton of fun too—if by fun you mean absolutely petrifying.

With an eerily familiar sense of immersion and some of the most memorable scares in any VR horror game to date, FNAF: Help Wanted is a must-have for horror fans.

Just make sure to keep the lights on…

F1 2022

F1 VR

Nothing’s quite like the rush of speed you get from tearing down the track in an F1 car. And with F1 2022, you can finally experience what it’s like to be a professional racer in virtual reality. This VR racing game is the most authentic and realistic F1 game to date, with accurate representations of every roster, driver, and circuit.

And, much to our delight, the tracks are one of the most gorgeous and immersive settings we’ve seen in a VR game. From the grandstand to the lush greenery that lines the tracks, you’ll definitely appreciate seeing the thrill of the sport first-hand through a virtual reality lens.

11

Moss

moss vr games

One of the most endearing tales out there, Moss is a masterclass of the capabilities of VR headsets like the Oculus Quest 2.

You control a tiny mouse known as Quill. When her uncle is kidnapped by an evil power, she heads out on an adventure to save him. Along the way, you’ll work as a team and use your bow to battle different enemies, solve difficult puzzles, and platform your way to success.

Moss is the epitome of a charming and heartwarming game. You’ll develop a genuine kinship with Quill throughout the way. The game also emphasizes the need for co-op collaboration (like It Takes Two) to achieve a common goal, as there’s no way that the game’s most challenging obstacles can be achieved by just one of you.

12

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

horror vr games

Had your fill of wholesome games? Horror is back—and it’s more gruesome than ever.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is one of the best triple-A VR games. As the title portrays, the game revolves around surviving a zombie apocalypse. In a city drowning in walkers, you’ll have to use every tool and weapon at your disposal to make it out alive.

This game may seem like your traditional zombie game on the surface, but it’s so much more than that. There are numerous methods to dispatch your undead adversaries, whether it’s the litany of weapons you have at your disposal or through creative environmental interaction. This awesome horror game also packs a punch with an in-depth story with interesting characters, all under one meaty VR campaign.

You also have the freedom to play as you see fit, meaning, there are consequences to every action you take. Miss a crucial item in your scavenging hunt? Prepare to be at a disadvantage later on in the game. And this weighty sense of responsibility makes the game all the more intense and engaging.

If you enjoyed this game, be sure to check out the sequel, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution, as well!

13

Journey of the Gods

Journey to the gods VR

If you’re a fan of action RPGs where you progressively grow in power and might, then this title is one of Oculus’s most charming games. Journey of the Gods sets you out on a fantastical journey where you need to stop sinister characters from destroying your land. Wielding the power of the gods, you’ll get to engage in thrilling combat, ranged and melee, against every foe that this game pits against you.

On top of that, the world is a delightful one to explore. With an art style that’s both charming and pleasant to the eye, the world is brought to life in a way that makes you feel like you’re truly within its world. If there were more rich character interactions, the game would rival even the best RPGs on the console.

14

Onward

VR FPS Game

Onward is frequently dismissed as a simple VR Counter-Strike or VALORANT knockoff, but it’s much more than that.

Onward is a military-simulation VR game that puts you in the shoes of a soldier in battle. While, sure, the game draws many similarities to the iconic FPS franchise such as 5-vs-5 gameplay, it also differentiates itself with a slew of innovative gameplay mechanics that are designed specifically for VR.

For example, realism is amped up in this game, as you’ll be required to perform all the functions of a soldier in battle, such as loading your gun with ammo in real-time and using guns that are true to their time. Mini maps and radars are also absent, which further adds to the sense of imminent danger for every corner you turn.

Another cool thing about Onward is the abundance of PVE, PVP, and co-op custom-modded maps and servers made by the community. This allows you to tailor your experience to be as realistic as you want it to be. If you want a more light-hearted experience, some modes allow you to play with friends in a less competitive environment.

15

Blade & Sorcery: Nomad

physics game vr
Source: UploadVR @ Youtube

Blade & Sorcery: Nomad is a fun sandbox VR experience that lets you live out your power fantasy in the most creative ways possible.

With an expansive and often ridiculous combat system that makes full use of the physics engine, you can experiment with different ways to dish out pain to your enemies through two main modes: arena sandbox and survival mode.

You can wield and equip a variety of fun weapons to toy around with, from swords and hatchets to magic. You can also use your surroundings to your advantage, as you may throw foes into walls or utilize environmental traps to dispatch your enemies.

The sense of humor the game possesses is also unintentionally amusing. The rampant carnage in the game juxtaposed with your dummy-like, dead-eyed enemies? A+ in my books.

If you enjoy a dose of silliness in your lethal playground, don’t hesitate to pick up Blade & Sorcery: Nomad.

16

The Climb 2

We hope you’re not afraid of heights, cause this VR game is all about it.

Scale past soaring skyscrapers and explore beautiful locales in The Climb 2—the ultimate rock climbing game made exclusively for VR.

The Climb 2 builds on the foundation of its predecessor with memorable level designs, tense environments, and breathtaking new heights. Even with plenty of air below you, The Climb 2 remains meditative and calming as you ascend past scaffolding and ropes spaced out evenly.

While there’s no central plot to tie the 15 levels together, there doesn’t need to be. The Climb 2 is a mesmerizing VR experience that achieves precisely what it sets out to do – give you an unparalleled sense of triumph as you attempt to summit each level. If you want a challenge, you can also play against ghost avatars to serve as a fun-hearted competition with friends for your next climb.

17

Gorn

Bloody Simulator VR

Similar to Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, Gorn is another combat-heavy, physics-based VR game that revels in its over-the-top violence.

In particular, Gorn is a gladiator simulator set in a grotesque arena where you’ll be pitted against all sorts of strange and deadly creatures.

Armed with an arsenal of makeshift weapons, you must use your wits and brawn to survive each encounter. And boy, do the developers know how to make it a fun time.

Gorn’s weapon variety is where it shines. You can equip yourself with clubs, swords, maces, and even nunchucks to bludgeon and beat foes. Bear in mind that these weapons don’t work realistically. Rather, the physics is a bit more comical, utilizing a quirky ragdoll system that makes weapons feel rubbery and elastic upon contact.

If you want a VR game that’s all about senseless fun and tons of loony moments, Gorn unashamedly offers that experience.

18

Until You Fall

roguelite vr game

Roguelikes don’t often catch wide appeal, but Until You Fall does an excellent job of nailing that addicting loop within the VR space.

In Until You Fall, you’ll be thrown into procedurally-generated dungeons where you’ll have to face off against all sorts of enemies. Runs are completely randomized, from the powerups and rewards to the enemies you’ll face.

On top of that, each run is augmented by an intoxicating synth-wave soundtrack and stylish visuals that makes hacking and slashing exponentially more fun.

For an arcade-style VR game that offers a different challenge after each new game, Until You Fall is a title to play.

Resist is an Oculus-exclusive action RPG that’s rich with lore and offers a unique spin on the genre. Set in the city of Concord, you play as the game’s heroine, Sam Finch. Making full use of Oculus Quest 2’s motion controls, Resist offers one of the most fleshed-out and fun movement mechanics we’ve seen in an action RPG. Think Spiderman.

A recent update has also introduced five new difficulty levels, New Game +, and a plethora of hidden achievements for avid gamers to sink their teeth into. With an engaging story campaign as the icing on the cake, as well as multiple side quests and deep skill trees, Resist is a game that’s definitely worth your time.

Tetris® Effect: Connected

tetris vr

What do you get when you get normal Tetris and elevate it with doses of trippy visuals and a bopping soundtrack?

You get Tetris Effect: Connected, an absolutely stellar VR game that takes the classic formula and gives it a fresh coat of paint.

While the gameplay is largely the same as your classic Tetris, the addition of new modes, online multiplayer, and the campaign mode provide a reskinned experience to this timeless classic.

And if that wasn’t enough, the game also features some of the most gorgeous and psychedelic visuals you’ll ever see. You have to see it and hear it to believe it.

21

Zenith: The Last City

zenith vr

Does an anime-inspired MMORPG in VR sound like your idea of a good time? Then you’ll want to give Zenith: The Last City a try.

This Quest 2 game is set in the world of Zenith, a setting teeming with luscious landscapes and relaxing towns. The game features a ton of glorious features: a fun character progression system, challenging dungeons, plenty of co-op events, an intricate storyline, and exceptional combat mechanics, to name a few. Multiplayer capabilities are also excellent, as the game is designed with servers that can accommodate a large number of online players.

The game also boasts a great graphical fidelity, which makes the already gorgeous world of Zenith look even more breathtaking. The developers are also constantly giving out free updates, which add new quests, dungeons, and gear to the game.

Zenith: The Last City is the perfect game for those who want to immerse themselves in a living, breathing world with plenty of activities to do. While still in Early Access, this game is one of the first pioneering attempts at bringing the MMORPG genre to VR, and to many, it’s hitting the mark.

Walkabout Mini Golf

Golf vr game

Let’s detour away from slashing and dicing for a moment and travel to the more scenic side of things – golf!

Walkabout Mini Golf is one of the most fun and wholesome games on the Quest 2. With 8 unique 18-hole courses and a challenging night mode for all those courses, this game’s replayability is undeniable. And if you deplore walking, smooth locomotion and teleportation features are also available.

But what makes this game special is its high degree of realism. The game’s physics engine makes for some of the most satisfying strokes you’ll ever feel in a sports video game.

This game is a perfect example of how the Meta Quest 2 can turn a simple concept like mini-golf into an addicting VR experience. So if you’re looking for a game to wind down with or play with pals, definitely put this game on your radar.

23

Room VR: A Dark Matter

Room VR game

Room VR: A Dark Matter is one of the most atmospheric and unnerving games you’ll find on Oculus Quest 2. Playing as an investigator for the British Empire, you’re tasked with solving the disappearance of a scientist from an eerie estate.

With an interesting world that fuses reality and illusion, as well as many classical objects to investigate and examine, there’s a good amount of head-scratching and puzzle-solving to be had in this title. Although the game’s magic naturally concludes after one playthrough, the strange and mystical world that Room VR: A Dark Matter creates is one that’s definitely worth exploring.

24

Superhot VR

superhot vr

If you’re looking for a truly sensational VR experience, check out Superhot VR. This game’s stylish yet minimalistic concept, coupled with its hectic and multi-faceted gameplay, makes for a wonderful first-person VR experience.

In this game, time only moves when you do, giving you the power to puzzle out your options and control the winds to your favor. Every movement carries a weight of consequences, and this game brings that effect to the next level.

And while that concept is already fairly innovative in a traditional sense, seeing it in action through your Meta Quest 2’s display is even more impressive. You’ll be ducking, dodging, and weaving your way out of trouble in ways that feel incredibly immersive.

Although it’s not a cross-platform game, with an excellent campaign mode and an addictive Endless mode, Superhot VR is one game not to miss.

25

I Expect You to Die 2: The Spy and the Liar

I Expect You to Die 2: The Spy and the Liar is the long-awaited sequel to the 2016 original game, and it does not disappoint.

With fun voice acting, brain-wracking puzzles, and a good degree of polish, this sequel builds upon its predecessor and is truly one of the most delightful VR puzzle games out there.

The game at its core is a six-level puzzler, tasking you with using your environment and gadgets to your advantage. It features a multitude of creative and challenging puzzles that are intellectually stimulating, albeit somewhat tedious at times.

However, unlike other puzzlers, I Expect You to Die 2 also graces us with interactive espionage storytelling that’s gripping from start to finish. For a puzzler with a whole lot of heart, this one’s a solid pick.
