This weekend, a well-known neighbourhood apple orchard is commemorating a significant local accomplishment.
With contests for making scarecrows and carving pumpkins, the event brought families from all across the neighbourhood together. There were numerous kid-friendly activities available, as well as lawn games to play and an antique tractor and engine display to view.
The “Fall 45 Fest” commemorated Valley Orchard’s 45th anniversary on Saturday in Cherry Valley.
Since its founding in 1977, Valley Orchard has expanded and now occupies 35 acres with more than 5,000 trees.
According to Bergersen, “It’s almost like we’re giving…a service to our clients.” Customers who have been coming to us for 30 years or longer have become like friends over the years.
After all of the effort they put in day in and day out, owner Raoul Bergersen says it is “gratifying” to witness such tremendous support from the community.
These friendships, according to Bergersen, are “the finest part about this industry.”
Valley Orchard is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Cherry Valley’s Valley Orchard can be found at 811 E. State St.
