Pokémon Go Dialga guide – a diamond geezer

Pokémon Go is full of some amazing legendary Pokémon, but one of the coolest and most intimidating is the legendary steel dragon known as Pokémon Go Dialga. It makes up part of the box legendary trio from the fourth generation alongside Pokémon Go Palkia, and Pokémon Go Giratina. In fact, we absolutely love a lot of gen 4 Pokémon.

Well, if you want to power up your team and unlock the skills of a fearsome dragon threat, our Pokémon Go Dialga guide is here to help you counter, catch, and use this mammoth monster. There are a lot of dragon threats out there, and Dialga is a good match for most of them, especially with its unique steel/dragon typing. Control the very power of time itself, and cause chaos to your opponent’s team.

Before we dive into the rest of our guide though, be sure to check out our other many great articles covering Pokémon Go, including our fairy Pokémon, dragon Pokémon, ghost Pokémon, and Pokémon Go Genesect guides.

Enough time wasting, let’s explore the cosmos with our Pokémon Go Dialga guide.

What is Pokémon Go Dialga?

Number 483 in the Pokédex, Dialga is the box legendary for Pokémon Diamond and its remake Pokémon Brilliant Diamond. It makes up part of the Sinnoh creation trio, representing time, alongside Palkia, who constitutes space, and Giratina, who represents antimatter. Dialga is a joint steel/dragon-type, a rare combination that only Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Duraludon and Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra share.

How do I catch Pokémon Go Dialga?

As a legendary Pokémon, Dialga only appears in five-star raids. Therefore, as and when it becomes available in raids again, we recommend that at least four or five trainers challenge the raid together to be in with a chance. You can read our Pokémon Go raids guide to see what Pokémon are appearing in raids soon.

How do I use Pokémon Go Dialga?

Dialga has the rare bonus of being a dragon-type that isn’t weak to dragons, meaning it’s already a major threat to so many Pokémon at the top of the meta. You mostly want to run metal claw as your fast move and draco meteor as your charged attack, as this combination has the highest DPS and the best type coverage. Draco meteor takes care of huge dragon threats while metal claw deals with ice Pokémon that could be a hassle. Below is a list of Pokémon that Dialga is particularly effective against.

How do I counter Pokémon Go DIALGA?

While Dialga only has two weaknesses in fighting Pokémon and ground Pokémon, these are two major weaknesses, and some top-tier Pokémon can prey on them. Not to mention, it leaves Dialga open to the threat of earthquake, which is a move you always want to try and avoid. Keep your dragons well away, but here’s a list of Pokémon which are great counters to Dialga.
