Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is Bioware’s upcoming title. While we are yet to see any gameplay footage, the developers have announced the game has reached Alpha Milestone. It can now be played from the start to the end by the developers. This is always a major point in the development of a game.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Hits Alpha Milestone

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf reaching the alpha milestone certainly doesn’t mean that it is near completion. But it does mark a major point in development indicating that it’s on track. In the recent Dragon Age blog post, General Manager Gary McKay explained the importance of the milestone:

Up to this point, we’ve been working hard on the various parts of the game, but it’s not until the Alpha milestone that a game all comes together. Now, for the first time, we can experience the entire game, from the opening scenes of the first mission to the very end. We can see, hear, feel, and play everything as a cohesive experience.

Additionally, we can now evaluate the game’s pacing, how relationships evolve over time, and the player’s progression, as well as narrative cohesion—essentially how the story comes together. We can take the story we’ve written and see if we’re expressing it well through the characters, dialogue, cinematics, and ultimately, the player’s journey. Now that we have the ability to do a complete playthrough, we can iterate and polish on the things that matter most to our fans.

Is This Title Dragon Age 4?

For the time being, information on the game is very scarce. We don’t even know if this is Dragon Age 4 or a different title. For now, it is best to call it by the Dreadwolf title as Bioware has used in the Tweet. We got a teaser trailer for the game back at The Game Awards in 2020:

The Dwarven archer Varric Tethras, who was a party member in both Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, appears to be returning, according to the teaser. Moreover, we are going to be getting a new protagonist as well. Bioware describes the game as a ‘Single-player focused experience’ and that’s pretty much all we know so far.

As for the release frame, we don’t have any information as of yet. The title ‘Dreadwolf’ was revealed earlier this year and Bioware also confirmed that it won’t be released this year. Gary McKay further revealed today that they would make more announcements on the title soon.

Now that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has reached Alpha Milestone, when do you guys think it will launch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
