Microsoft is finally patching a known issue in the Outlook desktop client – that’s freezing or crashing after it’s opened.
The issue has been prevailing since August this year, and Microsoft identified the cause as the EmailAddress string data value being blank on the login page. As it pushes the patch in several channels, users who didn’t receive any update yet can try the suggested workarounds below.
Patch For Freezing Outlook Desktop Client
As most of the Microsoft updates bring bugs, the company rushes to patch them too. In this pursuit, a bug that has irritated Outlook users since August has now been fixed in the
Current Channel Version 2209 (Build 15629.20156) and Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel (Preview) Version 2208 (Build 15601.20158).
While other channels will follow, users who didn’t get any patch yet can use the official workarounds suggested by Microsoft as below;
Earlier, users complained that the Outlook app on their Windows froze or crashed shortly after being opened.
“This issue occurs when the EmailAddress string data value under the Office identity is blank,” Microsoft noted. Affected systems will have this bug registered as 0x01483052 exception codes with 0x1328 faulting process IDs and 0x000000000024074d fault offsets while the Windows Event Viewer log them as Event 1000 or Event 1001.
