If you’re looking to find new movies like Enola Holmes, then you’re in luck, my friend. Enola Holmes is a film based on a book series written by Nancy Springer about Sherlock Holmes’s 14-year-old “crime-solving” sister.
Enola Holmes is focused on the youngest Holmes’s offspring as she attempts to uncover the mysteries behind certain circumstances surrounding her, her family, and her friends using clues and natural wittiness.
If you’re a fan of all of these employed in this masterpiece, we’ve created a list of other movies like Enola Holmes you could check out.
1. Sherlock Holmes (2009)
- Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, Mark Strong, Eddie Marsan, Kelly Reilly.
- Rating: 7.6/10
I thought it would be more than fair to start this list of movies like Enola Holmes with the iconic Sherlock Holmes.
Since Sir Arthur Conan Doyle first created the character, there have been innumerable iterations of the character on the big screen.
Personally, one of my favorites is Robert Downey Jr.’s performance of the intelligent detective in this 2009 film.
When a string of brutal murderers terrorizes London, the legendary Sherlock Holmes and his partner Dr. Watson set out to find the murderer, who turns out to be Lord Blackwood.
When Lord Blackwood, a dark arts fanatic, seemingly rises from the grave, the iconic duo realizes that the fiend has more sinister plans and is plunged into a world of occultic happenings.
The movie’s highlight is perhaps the chemistry between Downey Jr. and Law. A sequel was released in 2011, and a third is in production.
2. Searching (2018)

Knives Out is perhaps considered the most memorable whodunit murder mystery of modern times. The movie featured a stellar ensemble cast, following master detective Benoit Blanc as he attempts to solve the death of wealthy patriarch Harlan Thrombey in his mansion.
Though the circumstances surrounding the crime novelists’ deaths are mysterious, Detective Blanc must sift through a web of lies and half-truths to uncover the actual murderer, as everyone in the wildly dysfunctional family and Harlan’s nurse is a suspect.

Although it isn’t a mystery film, just like Enola Holmes, it shows Jo March, the protagonist, trying to fight against the stereotypical expectations for women in a male-dominated society.
She defies the norms and goes ahead to become an independent working woman. The film also chronicles the lives of the other March sisters, Meg, Amy, and Beth.
In the years after the American Civil War, Amy is in Paris, Meg is married to a school teacher, and Beth’s sickness has worsened, bringing the sisters home.
Though Jo is shown as the protagonist, each sister has their own story that shows the struggles led by women at the time.
