Whether you’ve seen it or not, you’ve probably heard of the kissing booth or the kissing cam. It’s a phenomenon that started in South Korea and has now spread worldwide. 

With the recent release of the 2020 film, “Kissing Booth,” the kissing cam has reached a new level of popularity.

Here are some movies like kissing booth that will make you smile. Suppose you have a craving for some romance and a few laughs.

These movies will remind you that love is always on the horizon and will surely lift your spirits.

1. Mean Girls (2004)

Lara Jean Covey usually responds to having major crushes by writing out her feelings in letters addressed to said crushes. However, she doesn’t post them but keeps them in her cupboard.

When she discovers one day that all her letters have been sent to her crushes, which include Josh, her next-door neighbor and sister’s ex-boyfriend, her hitherto non-existent love life spirals out of control.

When basketball player Troy Bolton is accidentally paired with Gabriela Montez, an academically-gifted transfer student, during a holiday karaoke, when they return to campus, they decide to audition for the upcoming school musical.

Their efforts are inhibited by their different extra-curricular activities, the jealous Sharpay Evaandl as Troy’s father who wants him to focus only on basketball.

5. The Duff (2015)

To make the most of her senior year, Bianca must use this association with Wesley to find the self-confidence she needs, overthrow a judgemental student, and determine her true friends. A thoroughly enjoyable watch for rom-com lovers of movies like kissing booth.

6. Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging (2008)

Though it’s been over a decade since this hit British teen comedy first hit the screens, it is still very much loved by fans.

Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging follow 14-year-old Georgia Nicholson as she awkwardly navigates adolescence and teenagehood, as well as her journey to self-acceptance. It’s one of those movies like kissing booth.

Based on the young adult novels by Louise Rennison, the film tells the story of the young Georgia, who is prone to getting into embarrassing situations, is constantly embarrassed by her parents, and spends her time worrying about her flat chest and getting a boyfriend.

When fraternal twins Tom and Robbie move into town, Georgie sets her sights on Robbie, determined to make him her boyfriend. In the process, she discovers how much being a teen can be a pain in the neck.

When Viola poses as her brother, Sebastian, in his new school to one-up their rival, her old soccer team, complications arise from her feelings for her handsome roommate, Duke.

It gets even more complicated when Duke likes Olivia, who likes Sebastian! The icing on the cake is when Sebastian returns from London ahead of schedule, not knowing his sister has replaced him on campus. A hilarious and genuinely entertaining watch.

8. Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List (2015)

To maintain their friendship, the two created a “no kiss list” to ensure they didn’t go after the same person, a system that had worked well until they fell for the same guy. Can their friendship withstand this new curve ball, or is it bound to end for good?

Mike decides to fix his past mistakes, but in trying to do so, he discovers love, friendship, and his true self.

Things seem better when she befriends a guy online named “Nomad,” and they agree to meet at a school dance.

There is Julie Reyes, a young girl considering giving up her scholarship to Columbia to care for her sick mum when she runs into riding pop star Stuart Bale, who could use a little of the holiday spirit.

The film also introduces Dorrie, a waitress dealing with a secret lover, Kerry, who isn’t out of the closet yet. Popular girl Duke is also presented as one who hasn’t realized her best friend Tobin is into her.

With the different romances going on, you’re bound to find one you like, as the film doesn’t lack adorable moments.

13. The Edge of Seventeen (2016)

Probably the most similar among movies like kissing booth in the plot on this list, The Edge of Seventeen shows Nadine’s struggles as she tries to process this latest development.

Nadine starts looking for other friendships to help her through the situation but can’t seem to find what she is looking for.

However, an unexpected friendship with a thoughtful teen and constructive advice from her teacher Mr. Bruner gives her a glimmer of hope.

Though more profound, The Edge of Seventeen is not without its awkward comedy moments.

14. The Half of It (2020)

Desperate for cash, Ellie Chu, an awkward, straight-A, Chinese-American teenager, agrees to write love letters for Paul Mansky, an inarticulate jock, to Aster Flores, a cute, smart girl. As Ellie talks to her, the problem is that she starts developing a crush.

While Aster thinks she is talking to Paul and starts developing feelings, Ellie is caught between keeping the truth to herself or coming out and telling both parties how she feels. A sweet, beautifully filmed movie and a must-watch for lovers of teen comedy-drama.

15. Easy A (2010)

Partially inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1850 novel The Scarlet Letter, Easy A tells the story of Olive Penderghast, an unpopular student in school whose little white lie escalated beyond what she could have imagined.

When she lies to her famous best friend Rhiannon about losing her virginity, she is overheard by a gossip who then spreads the news throughout the campus.

She embraces her newfound popularity when false rumors begin to apply; however, she never imagined her lies would hurt anyone other than herself.

Emma Stone delivered an epic performance in this film, and her wit and charm make it an exciting watch.
