Nintendo Announces Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Today, after months of leaks and rumors and amazon listings, after years of waiting, Nintendo finally announced The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild’s long awaited sequel. Welcome The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, coming the 12th of May in 2023.

Fortey minutes in, Nintendo seems to have kept the best at last for the fans, with no further information to be provided rather than the release date and the ambiguous trailer.

Nintendo previously mentioned that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild would be getting a sequel. Either way, they refused to give it a proper name at that time. And now here we are. The trailer showed nothing but antiquated scriptures and beveled drawings of some sort of historical figures on ancient walls. Then Link appears to be opening a gate only to skydive from the ledge of a… floating island above Hyrule.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Teaser Trailer

Anyways, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s release seems to be not so far away. So you can expect Nintendo to show more trailers and details in the forthcoming weeks as we gradually close the gap between the game’s first teaser trailer and release date.

Since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the most influential games not only to other Nintendo Switch games but to the industry as a whole. What we can expect from its sequel is already breaking every high bar.

This Nintendo Direct was rather unattractive to me, but a couple of announcements kept my interest. One of which were Tunic’s port announcement to the Nintendo Switch. It seems that the little fox will be playable on the Nintendo Switch on the 27th of September, which happens to be the same day that the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players get to play it.
