In their final home game of the regular season, the Blue Tornado won with ease.
They were able to win thanks to strong play in the trenches and smart decisions from quarterback Jay St. Helaire. Pope John Paull II Prep was a district rival that McCallie faced, and despite not being able to pull away until the fourth quarter, the guys in blue managed to win 47-21.
Behind the shackles, McCallie began the competition. The Blue Tornado missed the defense’s blitz on their opening play from scrimmage, which allowed Jamar Jones of the Knights to coast to St. Helaire for the sack. This play immediately stole multiple playbook pages from the home team and finally pushed them into a three and out. The McCallie attack took a few series to get going, but they eventually found their groove around the conclusion of the first period.
