S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is the first entry in a trilogy of Stalker games. Launched in 2007 by GSC Game World, Shadow of Chernobyl launched primarily on PC. Though there were many speculations about the game launching on consoles later GSC has been rather quiet on the matter.
Finally, after almost 15 years it seems the game is finally coming to consoles as well. According to a new leaked video, Youtuber Duty Warrior has apparently found a consoles build for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.
The build shows support for gamepads. There is also an updated UI and inventory that seems to be designed specifically for consoles which make moving weapons a lot easier through a controller.
This all hints that the game could be getting the much-awaited console port soon. Moreover, the leaker also mentions PlayStation4 in the build resources, as well as configuration for PS4 controllers implying a release for older consoles as well.
However, there has been no official word from GSC. The leaker believes that the latest news about the game being ported to consoles will be announced next year near the launch of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Shadow of Chernobyl. He also states that he isn’t sure now if the original plan of porting all three games to consoles is still a thing or not.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl has very positive reviews on Steam even though it launched over a decade ago. The game could be great for console players who had always been interested in the series but didn’t have a PC.
The new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will take advantage of Unreal Engine 5 so we can expect some great visuals. Along with that, the game will initially launch on PC and Xbox Series S and X with a PlayStation 5 launch expected later down the line. Considering this, this could be a perfect time to launch S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl as soon as possible to hype the console players even more.
