Yankees re-sign Anthony Rizzo and Joc Pederson accepts qualifying offer from Giants


Major League Baseball’s free agency period began earlier this month, allowing teams and players to begin the process of reaching an agreement ahead of the 2023 season. Tuesday saw a brief influx of free agent action as players continued until 4pm. ET he accepts or rejects targeted offers for a year. He turned down 12 of the 14 players who received qualifier offers (most of Aaron Judge and Trea Turner’s decisions were not surprising). But two players, Joc Pederson of the Giants and Martin Perez of the Rangers, accepted one-year, $19.65 million deals.

The most notable signing of the offseason took place shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yankees reportedly signed first baseman Anthony Rizzo to his two-year contract.
